Java Yachting locations are in Phuket and Krabi, Thailand
Our training centres are at Koh Lon in Phuket and Krabi Boat Lagoon in Krabi, Thailand.
These provide excellent bases from which to start your sailing adventures, explore parts of the Andaman Sea only accessible by boat, avoid the busy tourist spots, and take in the sights and sounds of these wonderful sailing grounds.
Koh Lon Island – Phuket Sailing & Training Base
Located just off the southeast coast of Phuket, Koh Lon Island provides Java Yachting with an excellent setting for practical sailing, marine training and outdoor education. Away from Phuket’s busier tourist areas, the island offers students the opportunity to learn in a quieter environment where the sea becomes the classroom. Java Yachting uses its Koh Lon location for a variety of practical sailing activities, including dinghy sailing, yacht training, seamanship and Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award expeditions. The surrounding waters give students opportunities to develop boat-handling skills, understand changing wind and sea conditions, practise navigation, and gain the confidence that comes from spending meaningful time on the water.

Koh Lon is particularly well suited to school and youth programmes. Students can progress from shore-based briefings and practical preparation to sailing and expedition activities, encouraging teamwork, communication, leadership, independence and responsible decision-making.
The location also provides an ideal base for Java Yachting’s Duke of Edinburgh Silver and Gold sailing programmes, where participants can put their training into practice as part of a structured expedition.
Combined with our facilities in Krabi, Koh Lon enables Java Yachting to offer schools and students two very different but complementary outdoor learning environments in Southern Thailand.
Krabi Boat Lagoon – Outdoor Education & Training Base
Set within the peaceful surroundings of Krabi Boat Lagoon, Krabi, Thailand, Java Yachting’s Krabi base provides an ideal location for outdoor education, water-based training and school programmes. The sheltered marina, nearby estuary and network of rivers create a very different training environment from our island sailing base in Phuket.

Krabi Boat Lagoon is particularly well suited to kayaking, dinghy sailing, introductory boating skills, team-building, school camps and Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award activities. Students can begin with shore-based instruction and safety briefings before progressing onto the water, allowing skills and confidence to develop in a structured and supportive environment.
The surrounding waterways also provide opportunities for kayak journeys and expedition-style activities. Students learn practical skills while developing teamwork, communication, leadership, navigation, self-reliance and environmental awareness – important elements of Java Yachting’s approach to outdoor education.
